Copywriting With A Pretty Woman



Last days I watched one more time "Pretty Woman" and not because I forgot all about this movie but because of the story,Julia Roberts and Richard Gere;ones of my favorite actors.

I believe you know the movie very well.It's about a beautiful prostitute
(at first)and a very successful man.

The movie is starting with some words that we all know very well:"It's all about money".

Then,when Edwards(Gere)leaves the party and drive through Hollywood you'll have the pleasure to hear a very good song: Go West - King of Wishful Thinking.

I'm a big fan of music and movies from '80 and starting '90.
Why? Simple:they were great.

Then,he meets Vivian and soon they fall in love and in the end
they stay together and fill the empty spaces from each other lives.

The great Hollywood happy ending.....

At some point some replicas got my attention and made me think
about our make money online industry.

When they enter together in a shop to buy her some closes,Edwards asks the manager:

"Do you have anything in this shop as beautiful as she is?
...and he first said..

"Oh,yes".... but immediately he corrected himself and said:

"Oh no,no!No,I'm saying we have many things as beautiful as she would want them to be"

Then..she started to try closes and buy them in the end.What is this have to do with online marketing?

Well,is pretty simple.When we put our offer in front of our possible customers or partners, it's not how we think about our business but how they think about it.

The manager don't says:yes I believe this is beautiful but he'll let Vivian decide what's beautiful and what's not.

When you create your landing pages don't write how great you think the product is but write about benefits for the users and let them decide.

Never write about product's features(who cares?)but about the final benefits of your product.Spend some time and study very well the product and write down all it's features.Then turn them into benefits.A good trick will be to ask the question "So,what?" after each feature of the product.

Here's 2 examples:

-Our host offers unlimited space(that's a feature)...."So,what?"
You'll be able to store all your photos and family movies and you'll never run out of space(that's a benefit)

-Our autoresponder will give you 30 pre-written follow-up messages(feature)...So,what?
You'll never be worried about follow up with prospects writing your own messages and you'll earn more free time(benefit)

So,when you create your squeeze pages don't think about product but about the benefits for people.
Your squeeze page,implicit your copywritng is not about you and the product but about them(potential customers and partners).

"Copywriting is not about building a bridge from your product to the prospect.It's about building a bridge from your prospect to the product"
